This new production of Ain't Misbehavin' at the White Plains Performing Arts Center was a wonderful showcase of the music of Fats Waller. Fats Waller's body of work really strikes me because of the sheer range and variety of music. Everything from comedic uptempo songs as in "My Feets Too Big" and "The Viper Rag" to gut wrenching ballads such as "Keeping Out of Mischief Now" and "Black and Blue."

Because of this range of emotion in the music, as well as the nature of the flow of the show, I decided to use color to really feature and accent each emotional moment of each song. The Set took color really well and really allowed me to change the space and make the environment specific for each moment.
